The Canada Small Business Financing Loan (CSBFL) program makes it easier for you to get the small business funding you need.
Small businesses looking to purchase or improve their assets for new or expanded operations could benefit from the Canada Small Business Financing Loan (CSBFL). This loan is a government-sponsored loan program that offers up to $1,000,000 ($350,000 for equipment and leasehold improvements) to small businesses in Canada.

What are the features?
- Access financing where 85% of your small business loan is guaranteed by Government of Canada, so there’s less risk
- Up to $350,000 in financing to buy equipment and vehicles, and/or make improvements on a leased property
- Up to $1,000,000 in financing to buy or improve commercial property (land and/or buildings)
- Purchases made within 180 days prior to loan approval are eligible for retroactive financing
- Floating rates available as well as fixed rates with terms up to 10 years
- Flexible repayment options that work for you – up to 6 month interest only the first year

Here’s what you get
Financing available for up to 90% of the “Eligible Costs” of assets financed
Monthly repayment frequency with a choice of terms, up to a maximum of 10 years ‑ an amortization of up to 20 years may be available
Competitive fixed and floating interest rates are available
Personal guarantee required, starting at 25% of the loan amount4
One-time Federal Government registration fee of 2% of the loan amount (which may be included in the amount borrowed)
Are you Eligible for the CSBFP?
- You are an existing small business or a start-up
- Your business is located in Canada
- Your business is not a not-for-profit, charitable, or religious organization
- Your gross or projected annual revenue is $10 million or less
- You are not in the farming business
